Viewing and Covering Hearings on the Mobile App

We use the verb cover to describe the act of an attorney committing to appear for a hearing.  Only one attorney can cover a hearing.  So once someone covers the hearing, it becomes unavailable to other attorneys.  We call that connection between the hearing and the attorney an appearance.

Note that you are personally obligated to appear at the hearing. You may not outsource or otherwise find a substitution to appear in your place. We have specific compliance regulations with our clients and we require the covering attorney to be the person appearing.

Step-by-Step Guide to Viewing and Covering Hearings

• Open the Docketly Mobile App and navigate to the Dashboard.

• Locate the “Pick Hearings” section to view available hearings.

• The list of hearings updates frequently, but you may manually refresh the page by pulling down on the screen.

• Tap on a hearing you are interested in covering.

• This will open the Hearing Details page, where you can review:

  • Date & Time

  • Court Name & Location

  • Appearance Type (In-Person/Telephonic/Remote

  • Compensation Details

• If you meet the requirements and wish to cover the hearing:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the Hearing Details page.

  • Tap the “Cover” button to confirm your commitment.

  • A confirmation message will appear, and you will receive a notification.

• Once a hearing is covered, it will move from the “Pick Hearings” section to your “My Hearings” list.

• You may view the details of covered hearings anytime by tapping on them from your Dashboard.

• The app will send you a reminder notification before the scheduled hearing time.

• Mistakenly Covered a Hearing? If you accidentally cover a hearing, immediately contact Docketly Support for assistance.

• Unexpected Conflict? If an emergency arises and you cannot appear, notify Docketly as soon as possible. Last-minute cancellations may affect your standing on the platform.

• You will receive an instant confirmation upon covering a hearing.

• The app will send reminders leading up to the hearing.

• If the hearing details change, you will be notified immediately.

• No Attorney Substitutions: You must personally appear for any hearing you cover.

• Deadline for Cancellations: If you cannot attend, inform Docketly immediately so we can arrange coverage.

• If a hearing you previously saw is no longer available, it may have been covered by another attorney.
