PandemicBeginning March 17, 2020 until May 11, 2020, the 76th and 276th District Courts will only hear the following cases: (1) Jail pleas; (2) Juvenile detention/adjudication hearings; (3) Writs of Habeas Corpus; (4) Protective Orders; and (5) Emergency family law cases. The listed cases will only be heard by special setting. If you have a need for one of these hearings, please contact the court and the need will be evaluated on a case by case basis, and a special date and time will be scheduled, If you currently have settings during this time period, they are cancelled effectively immediately and will need to be rescheduled on or after May 11, 2020. The court strongly suggests that all contested temporary and final family law matters attempt mediation before contacting the court for a setting. This court plan does not include CPS Court and Attorney General Court cases. The judges for those courts will implement their own court plans. Further, due to recommendations by the CDC and advisory opinions from the OCA, effective March 16, 2020, all attorneys and court staff traveling on domestic or international flights will be required to have a 14 day waiting period before participating in court matters. Court staff and attorneys are encouraged to not fly domestically or internationally. If you must travel, please contact the Judges' office by email.Website
