How to Use the Docketly Chat

The Docketly Chat is the fastest way to get answers while working inside the platform. This guide walks you through how to open it, what to ask, and how to get the most out of every conversation.

Step 1: Open the Chat

Look for the chat icon in the bottom-right corner of any page within your Docketly dashboard. Click it to open the chat panel.

The chat is available on every page — you don't need to navigate anywhere special to use it.

Step 2: Type Your Question

Type your question in plain language, just like you'd ask a colleague. You don't need to use specific keywords or commands. A few examples to get you started:

What You Want to Know

Example Question to Ask

What You Want to Know

Example Question to Ask

Hearing status definitions

"What does it mean when a hearing is 'Pending Response'?"

How to take an action

"How do I add attachments to a hearing?"

Understanding a metric

"What is MTTC and how is it calculated?"

Finding a feature

"Where do I manage my notification subscriptions?"

Getting help with a process

"How do I approve an unscheduled hearing request?"

Step 3: Review the Response

The Assistant will respond with a direct answer, and often include a link to the relevant Handbook article if more detail is available. You can ask follow-up questions in the same conversation — it remembers the context of your chat session.

Step 4: Escalate If Needed

If the Assistant can't resolve your issue, it will recommend next steps — such as submitting a ticket to the Docketly team or reaching out to your Success Manager directly.

For time-sensitive coverage issues or anything requiring a human decision, always submit a ticket via the Tickets menu rather than relying on the chat alone.

Tips for Better Results

  • Be specific. "How do I post a bundle?" gets a better answer than "help with hearings."

  • Include context when relevant. For example, "I'm trying to add a pool requirement to an existing hearing — where do I do that?"

  • Ask one thing at a time. The Assistant handles focused questions better than multi-part requests.
